Hi All,
Now in Santorini – island east of Athens. Enjoying the sun and relaxing for a few days.Weather is just great at 27 – 28 degrees with light breezes. Much better than an Aussie winter.
Love the food and people, although Greek debt situation is causing a few problems with no money in banks or ATMs.Pensioners can get only 60 Euros per day and travellers can get a bit more if money is in the ATMs, which is often not supplied with funds.
Photo of Viv and I outside our villa-room overlooking the harbour where the international boats drop anchor. The view from the town looking down to the Queen Victoria as it is moored at the harbour, while passengers add funds to the Greek economy. Most boats just stay for a few hours, allow the spending to happened then blow the horn and off they go to the next island.
We also have to do the shopping trip and have male company to ensure we do not get lost and our cards are still working. The little alley ways are just a store of value for the bargain hunter, with many purchases made by our group Of course we had the afternoon sunset cruise to see all the sights and sun going down over the horizon.
Swimming in the Mediterranean is a must for all Greek travellers, so with assistance we all jumped in. Sunset on our cruise was just what was expected, beautiful! Then back the next day for some sun and relaxation while we waited for our Greek dinner that night with the smashing of the plates.
Dinner around the pool and another sunset on the Mediterranean.
Just a few more weeks of this. See you all soon with further instalments.
Love Wendy
