Hi to all
Our first week has been amazing to get to know the QM2, it’s layout is so large. There are many formal nights, with black tie and white suits. So we came prepared with our dresses for our first Black and White Ball.
We all had a great formal dinner and then off to the Queens Room Ballroom for our formal dancing and entertainment.
Of course every day all passengers are given more training in the formal steps by our resident Russian ballroom champion dancers, who are just magnificent.
Then of course it is our turn to practice with out Gentlemen Escorts who are very busy partnering ladies all day and night as we practice and then go to the evening balls.
Making new friends is such great fun as there are so many on the QM2 looking to enjoy themselves dancing and mixing at the Captain’s Ball.
At the Captain’s Ball of course we were all welcomed by the Captain of the QM2. He told us all about the stability of the QM2 which, as we have travelled along the north coast of Australia, is very true.
You would hardly know you were moving and the water jug on the dining table is so still as we speed across the ocean waters to northern Borneo.
There are many opportunities to sample the food on the QM2 and also enjoy the many
afternoon high teas in the Queens Ball room with the white glove service.
Lovely to enjoy such treatment.
The days program has many activities to select from. One of the special guest speakers, between Sydney and Brisbane, was the newspaper columnist and author (past rugby player) Peter Fitzsimons.
He spoke about his short rugby career and his many stories about the books he has written and his wonderful wife. He said that he was one of those chaps that was hitting above his looks when he married Lisa Wilkinson (the news reporter). But she keeps him steady when he gets to talking and makes sure he stays to the straight and narrow.
