Hi all
Life on board Queen Mary 2 can be busy, that is after you have walked around the ship to know how to get places which can be from level 1 – 13 or stairway A, B, C, or D.
There is a great variety of activities to keep all on board entertained either inside with lectures, shows, musicians, singers and orchestras. As well there are more active selections at the gym, private lesson of Pilates, or ballroom dancing. This of course needs to be fitted around all the opportunities to sample Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, morning teas, afternoon teas and supper clubs.
There are many international artists on board for our enjoyment. We have listened to the international Pianists and Violin duo from Germany playing in the main theatre.
One day at sea we had the pleasure of a Baby Grand player in the ballroom, and chamber orchestra in the Golden Lion Pub and harpists in the lobby.
Our evening entertainment has included – Comedians from Gold Coast singing in many voices from Ray Charles to Kermit the Frog. British harmonica player.
Displays of ballroom dancing by our Russian champions. This is also topped off by the later evening opportunities for ballroom dancing in the Queens Room from 10:45 pm until midnight.
Then for those that still are awake we have the disco in G32 with the South American band continuing until all have left.
Yesterday was the crossing of the equator and the ceremony of crossing the equators for first timers.
All was set up near the back pool area. King Neptune and his wife Neputuna arrived to open the ceremony.
King Neptune had his mermaids with him to ensure all went according to plan.
Those crossing for the first time were given the initiation activity of the covering in left overs
and kissing the tuna fish as a sign of their courage to cross the equator.
After such a well deserved covering they were thrown into the pool to wash off and become seasoned travellers.
Later in the afternoon it was time to take some sun relax in the warm tropical weather.
In a few days we will be at Kota Kinabalu where we can depart the ship for some time on land and feel warm breezes of Sabah in Borneo, travel to see the orangutangs and sample the local markets.
Till next edition.
Regards
Wendy
