Hi PMC members

The PMC group begins their most anticipated Scenic cruise from Paris to Nice .
We departed from our hotel in Paris via the Scenic coach to the La Gare rail station and then boarded the TGV fast train for the Dijon. The trip only took 1.5hours as we travelled up to 320kmph…it was so smooth and most relaxing.
The Scenic Sapphire space ship was our floating hotel for 13 days. The ship is a river ship and has a maximum of 140 guests with 53 staff. The majority of the suites have balconies with remote control balcony windows for guests to control their required weather requirement. This cruise navigated thru southern France with opportunity to explore the fabulous wineries in various cities.

Dijon is the 2nd largest city in France and the former capital of Burgundy and the home of famous Dijon mustard. The architecture throughout the city embraces the medieval Gothic style with so many well preserved public and private buildings.

In Beaune the old building of the hospice has been wonderfully preserved to show visitors how this public and later private hospital helped many people.

Some of the group visited one of the wine caves to sample some delicious white wine. The tastings, as most in France are not free and a fee of about $15.00 person is charged.

Apart from Bordeaux, no wine region in France offers as many red wines with the grape of Burgundy. This is predominantly found in the Cote D’Or area and no doubt one of the best wines of this area.

On board the ship, guests were able to choose from a number of red and white wines as we sailed through all the different wine regions.

Until next week,

Cheers Beers and Bubbles
